Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What would cause a feeling of lighheadedness or a wave coming over you? It is happening more and more often. I am a female, age 68. I am concerned that it might be something serious, or something I should get checked out. Some things I have found online indicate it could be vertigo, but I m not sure that is what it is.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It could be dizziness rather than vertigo. You should get checked your blood pressure and serum blood sugar level to rule out hypertension or hypotension and hypoglycemia. Labyrinthitis like inner ear infection also can led to such presentation so if congestive symptoms present than let me know about that. Check your HB value as well and if any cardiac history or anxiety history present than let me know about that.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
