What Causes Persistent Ear Pain And Blockage In The Ear Canal?
A week ago I went in a walk in clinic to see a doctor about my ear pain I had for several days and not getting better. After she looked in my ear, she said there is nothing wrong with it and it could come from a cold that I had been fighting off for several weeks. It did hurt when she touched the inside of my ear with her instrument. So I went on with my life as usual and part of this is to go swimming. 3 days later my ear swell up trmendeously and the pain was very bad. I saw her again and because of the swelling she didn t examin my ear. She had taken a test for Strep Bacteria and that had come back positive. She put me on antibiotica for that. After taking the medication now for several days it has gotten better. The swelling is down. The pain is managable but the ear disburse a clear and sometimes slightly yellow liquid. Today the outer ear canal feels totally blocked and even pulling my ear out and back doesn t pop it open. Waiting for appointment to see ENT don t trust this walk in clinic doctor. I worry my ear drum has been ruptured because of the fluid, it doesn t seem to be ear wax. How can know if that is the case or is it just swimmers ear?
