What Causes Persistent Fever Along With Body Aches?

My 64 year old husband is running a low grade fever since Sunday evening. He has 102 tonight with aches and no appetite. The symptoms came on suddenly on Sunday night. We are now over 24 hrs with symptoms and he seems worse. He is normally very healthy. He has slept most of the day. We were assuming this is a virus but not having doubts. If he has fever in the morning he plans to see his doctor. Could it be something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
these symptoms may be due to a viral fever but some other thing such as a severe bacterial infection is possible. but without examine the patient to very difficult to say what is it. as his age is above 60 and his symptoms woresning , my adivise is show him to a doctor now. it it not advisable to stay until tommrow. then doctor can examine and decide weather he neeeds further investigations and treatment.
