What Causes Persistent Fever And Chills With Pain In The Joints?
My mom is having fever and chills for at least 16 days...it comes and goes....she now is experiencing yellow stools but only has bowel movement every few days. She now experiences joint pain and neck stiffness. She has a loss of appetite. She had bloodwork that all have come back normal. Her ct scans have all come back with different results. Her wbc has were not elevated at all.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Based on the history and investigation findings, your Mom might be having Chikungunya. It us a viral disorder which causes more of morbidity with joint pains. Since her Dengue tests are not done, kindly get her Dengue Antigen-Antibodies done along with platelet counts. In case it is negative, then she needs to take antipyretics and analgesics. She can take Tablet.Paracetamol 650mg for fever as and when she gets it. She needs to take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Naproxen for joint pains along with plenty of fluids. She might have residual joint pains for weeks or months which would require supportive care until she recovers completely. Hope the information provided is helpful. Wish her good health and speedy recovery.
