Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Fever And Ear Ache In A Child?
Hi I have a five year old daughter and her epiglottis the showing at the back of her tongue she has had mild fevers and ear ache on and off for the whole weekend about four days now. she says it hurts when she swallows. She also has an auto immune disorder called hsp she has been dealing with for about 12 weeks.
Fever and earache of 4 days duration probably suggests ear infection (otitis media). Given the associated throat pain, this can be acute pharyngitis with eustachian tube blockage also. I don't think this is related to HSP. Kindly take her to your pediatrician, as this might need antibiotic treatment. Meanwhile, you can give her Acetaminophen to control pain and fever.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
