What Causes Persistent Fever Despite Taking Medication?
Hi, my husband has not been feeling well he was told a week ago he had the flu and was prescribed Tamiflu. He is still running fever was low grade but tonight it was 101.1 he has diarreah his fever last week was very high the doctor said he was dehydrated because he has blood in his urine. I am not sure how long to get over this or if he really had the flu . I am very worried about him what should I do?
Your husband has a high fever with blood in the urine. You are suggested to get him physically examined by a GP. Get CBC, Urinalysis (R/E & C/S) done.
Factors causing such symptoms commonly are UTI, kidney stones, benign prostate, bladder issues or cancer.
Your treating doctor will tell your husband to do Imaging tests to detect the pathology causing the symptoms.
For fever, he can take Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Your husband will be treated with oral or intravenous antibiotics/ antivirals depending upon the severity of the infection detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
