What Causes Persistent Fever Despite Taking Medication?
My father is down with fever since yesterday. His fever goes up to 102 f. I gave him Paracetamol 650 mg as prescribed by doctor. The fever comes down for a short period that shoots again. My query is, in after how much time paracetemol can be given again. Next query is can Meftal-p be given alternatively with paracetemol i.e. at 9 paracetemol at 12 meftal -p at 3 paracetemol and so on. His age is 76

The dosage of paracetamol decided according to clinical status of patient....
Usually 500 mg tablet three times a day is safe dose... But use Paracetamol SOS if possible...
Paracetamol is good antipyretic drug so no need for other drug...
If fever continues than cause should be searched and work up done with...
-CRP and CBC
-Auscultation
-peripheral smear examination etc...
According to examination and detail clinical history further work up planned
