What Causes Persistent Fever Despite Taking Medication?

My 5 years old had a bacterial infection with fever cold and cough 2 weeks ago...gave him antibiotics for a week and he was good...now he has fever again, which comes back after some hours if giving medicine. Should I give him antibiotics again or just paracetamol will do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Please give paracetamol and hydrate him well through the day.
If fever persists more than 100 f for more than 3 days, see his pediatrician. Don't give antibiotics unless advised by his doctor.
If any new symptoms develop talk to his doctor about it.

Hope this helps.
Please let me know if you need anything else.
Wish you both good health.
