What Causes Persistent Fever In Infant Inspite Of Amoxicillin?
my 19month old grandson has fever @ 42.4 for more than 2 days and Advil and Tylenol are not working much... we gave him luke warm bath and place towells over his head but that doesnt seem to help much...After 2hrs his fever is back to 42.4 C is back with... He is taking Amoxicillin as his pediatrician prescribed more than 2 days ago.Shall we take him to Sick Kids Emergency ???

Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
