Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Fracture In Femur Bone Despite Using A Sling?
I fell and broke my femur and the ball of my ball and socket. I also landed on my elbow resulting in a hairline fracture of the radial neck. After six weeks using a platform walker and a sling, the fracture showed up on an X-Ray as not having healed at all. However, the doctor said it might show up as healed two weeks later. How can this be?
The fracture healing usually take eight to ten-week for complete healing. So you can wait for the next two weeks for allowing the fracture to heal. You can take vitamin C 500 mg BD for seven days to enhance healing.
If still healing doesn't occur than rule out the underlying cause for delayed healing like anemia, malnutrition, steroid usage, immunosuppression, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
