What Causes Persistent Head Congestion With Intense Pain In Right Ear?
69 yo male with gradual onset of head congestion over a week. Loss of appetite. Then he had sudden onset of fever of 101, chills. Seen in ER and head CT normal, Spinal tap normal. Hospitalized for 48 hours and pain controlled with IV Dilaudid, and Toradol. Sent home with Imitrex nasal (which does not help), Toreadol (which does help but afraid to use). hurts to chew. Continues to have waves of Intense headache pain of 12/10. No Fever, continues to have head congestion and intense right ear pain. tenderness of right neck muscle.

I really appreciate your concern, given history here could be suggestive of sinusitis may be bacterial infection and in my opinion such case need to be managed with antibiotic and best drug would be "Tab Amoxicillin with Clavulanic acid 625" mg twice in day along with symptomatic drugs, steam inhalation can also be tired, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
