What Causes Persistent Headache And Hiccups In An Elderly Person?
My husband got a complaint of tolerating solid food and liquid intake. Fluid back up every time he attempt to swallow, he 50 yr. medium built , not taking any medication . He spitting thick white saliva , now he had a hiccups and headache. He said , hes tonsil was remove when he was young. He breathing is fine. What suggestions you can tell him?
Headache is non specific symptoms and it can be caused by many illnesses but commonest is blood pressure, and acute infections.
- Hi cups are caused by lack of adequate water in the body - dehydration - saliva and solid foods has to do with some growth in the oesoophagus which stops foods from going down to the stomach.
You need to check oesophagus by doing endoscopy to rule out growth in oesophagus, check kidneys if they are functioning well. Give a lot of water at least 8 glasses of water in a day.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mutuma Geoffrey Zambezi
