What Causes Persistent Headache Despite Taking Isosorbide?
I am currently taking hydralazine and isosorbide dn. I am getting headaches (back of head). I am in my second week of the isosorbide. Should the headaches subside as I continue the meds? Or should I contact my doctor before proceeding with these meds?
Understanding your concern . As per your query your wife has severe migraine headache , which is not getting better with treatment . Well there can be many reasons responsible for migraine like hormonal changes in women. Fluctuations in estrogen seem to trigger headaches in many women with known migraines , Foods. Aged cheeses, salty foods and caffeinated product, Food additives , Stress , Sensory stimuli like light and loud sound or Changes in wake-sleep pattern. The symptoms can also occur due side effects of medicine . If you didn't use preventive treatment for migraine headaches, three drug classes used for this purpose are with doctor's prescription Antidepressants , Antiepileptics or Calcium channel blockers . If preventive treatment together with acute phase treatment fail to improve symptoms, Botox injections in scalp could be tried as an effective long lasting symptoms treatment. Severe migraine can also be treated by the use of ergot alkaloid drugs. These drugs need to be taken under the supervision of your doctor. Hence please do consult neurologist for prescription of drugs.
