Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My son is complaining of headache near the temples for the past 7 days. This started after we visited to a beach. His headache is severe sometimes and mild sometimes. We took to the pediatric doctor and they said to give Ibuprofen but that is not hapenning. Is his headache anyway relayed to the visit to the beach?
I understand your concern. children presenting with headache may be due to various causes. Some of which may be associated with injury, stress, sun exposure, dehydration, vision disturbances, improper diet or a viral flu.
Headaches may be associated with other symptoms like a runny nose, congestion, ear pain, blurry vision, fatigue depending on the cause.
Painkillers usually help with reducing the pain, application of a warm pack over the temples will help too. If the pain does not subside or if worsens, it is best to visit the pediatrician again for a referral to the ophthalmologist for an eye check up, and then also a few blood tests will help.
Hope this helps, take care, Regards, Dr Vignan Rachabattuni
