What Causes Persistent Headache With History Of Spinal Chord Injury?

my mother is a T12 spinal cord injury. Her blood pressure is 192/68. She has been complaining of headaches for the past 2 days. She has one kidney, 12 rods and screws in her back. Could that pressure lead to a stroke or does it sound more like an infection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She is having isolated systolic hypertension and it doesn't seem much related to infection. It can be related to artery stiffness, heart valve issues, overactive thyroid or diabetes. She is having really elevated values and has increased risk of stroke. She should get checked by a cardiologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
