What Causes Persistent Headache With Low Grade Fever In Children?

My son is 6 and complained about headache n stomachache in the morning before going to school. At school he caught up fever. I visited our paed and he suggested emecet syrup, ziprax 100 and crosin ds. However my son has had no loose motion or vomit but has been complaining of unbearable headache with fever ranging from 100-101degree. I am worried about meningitis... Hope I am wrong... Please advise.
