Doctor Its been more than a month that I am having difficulty getting food down to my stomach. It seems like food get stuck on my throat and chest.I get hiccups and heathburs all the time.Right now I feel pressure on my chest and discomfort. What do you think is the cause of it.
Hello, Thank you for the query and welcome to healthcare magic
Your symptoms are most likely due to GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease).GERD is due to reflux of stomach acids into esophagus. It is treated with proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole. I recommend that you consult your doctor to get evaluated and started on appropriate medication. Meanwhile there are few things you can try to relieve the symptoms -Avoid spicy, fatty and fried food -Avoid going to bed immediately after eating.Give at least a 3 hour time gap between meal and bed time -Raise the head end of bed using wood blocks underneath bed posts -I would like to know any medications you are using, as certain medications increase acidity of stomach -avoid coffee and carbonated drinks
Hope I was able to answer your question Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
