What Causes Persistent Heartburn With Nausea?

I ve been struggling with constant heartburn for a while now... My heartburn gets bad around 12am onwards and it s to the point where I cannot sleep because of how painful it is. It burns my chest and throat so bad I get nauseous. What do I do? I ve tried chewable heartburn tablets, I ve tried milk drinks, nothing is working and the pain just gets worse and worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I understand your concern.
Take a prton pump inhibitor like pantoprazole and an antacid like maalox. You will also have to see a Gastrologist for a fibroscopic exam.I will also advise you try the following home measures:
-Eat smaller meals
-Don't lie down immediately after a meal
-Elevate the head of your bed
-Avoid smoking
-Avoid foods and drinks that trigger heartburn
-Avoid tight-fitting clothing
-Have your weight under control
Hope these will help. You may write back if more concerns.
Best regards
