It's been 2 months I got my lower left molar extracted. I got 2 stitches. Post that dentist did say I recovered fine. However, I constantly feel heaviness in the tongue and lower jaw. Also its painful to chew from left side. This is my my second extraction and I never felt this previously. Pls suggest.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain heaviness in lower jaw and tongue post extraction of molar tooth along with pain during chewing seems to be most probably due to nerve related injuries..
It seems that there has been nerve injury leading to numbness and heaviness..
This is a possible cause with lower jaw extractions leading to injury to the inferior dental nerve and its branches..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like MRI SCAN can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
As of now you can take Ibuprofen to relieve pain and also do alternate warm and cool compresses over the tongue..
Take Vitamin B complex supplements as it helps in nerve repair..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
