Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband has severe hiccups; was in the ER and was given medication. Hiccups stopped. He was sent home. Then they started up again. Now he is in bed, sleeping. He has had bouts like this before. It seems to be connected to stress. He is somewhat over weight and is 73 years old. Is there a way to calm his attacks.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, hiccup start with diaphragm irritation, and most common cause would be hyperacidity, antacid can be tried for this, with local anesthetic agent, if symptoms dose not improved then PPI can be added like "Tab Omeprazole and Domperidone" once in day, some it may need further investigation to ruled out some surgical condition hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
