What Causes Persistent High Blood Pressure Despite Taking Medication?

I am 48 yr old female high cholesterol under control. Get that from my genetics. Onset of high blood pressure all of a sudden. I have been taking 10mg Amlodipine and still stays high. From 140 to 173 over 92-106 pulse stays high even at rest. When blood pressure is high my legs and feet swell so big they hurt. And vision gets foggy. Any suggestions. I asked my Dr to send me to cardiologist to look for cause maybe narrowing of renal artery.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to high blood pressure.

I suggest to do regular measurements of the blood pressure.

I also suggest to do an electrocardiogram to evaluate the cardiac function.

I suggest to consult your cardiologist about an alternative medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
