Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, What reason would I still be having hot flashes when I've had a hysterectomy in 1999. I do have a thyroid nodule, but all thyroid tests are normal. I've heard rheumatoid might be a cause or fibromyalgia? I do have aches a and pains, but I ignore them. I'm pretty tolerant to pain. Well, sometimes. :-) :-) :-) Have you got any other reasons for these continuing hot flashes? Thanks for your advise.
Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. After total hysterectomy a lot of females develop hot flashes even after years of surgery. This usually occurs because of hormonal changes following removal of ovaries. Your all tests came normal so there is nothing to worry still for persistent hot flashes I would advise you to visit your Gynaecologist or a Psychiatrist for management. Hormone therapy can help to control these hot flashes but it has a lot of side effects so some doctors don't prefer it. Medicines like Duloxetine, Milnacipran can help to control these hot flashes and are very useful in such symptoms. These medicines are also useful in chronic pains and aches so will help in controlling the chronic mood changes. Visit a psychiatrist for evaluation and prescription of these drugs.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
