What Causes Persistent Insomnia Upon Switching From Xanax To Klonopin?

I have had a medication change from xanax to klonopin at abither doctor s request. I was on a low dose of 1mg xanax for severe insomnia and have been changed to 1 mg of klonopin but getting no relief. what suggestions fo you have? I have used Ambien but it is a hit or miss drug for me and only allows at best 3 to 4 hours sleep after which I feel terrible, if I sleep at all. I have gone 6 yo 7 days without sleep which has resulted in hallucinations. I am desperate for answers but working with my doctor with now no results with the klonopin. This insomnia has gone on for yrars.

Hello,

This is because of the change in the drug. Change in drug causes a lesser effect on the brain. And this causes lesser sleep.

So better to consult your doctor or psychiatrist for change in prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
