What Causes Persistent Irritation And Pain In Right Knee While Kneeling?

Hi. For over a month when I kneel on my right knee it feels like I am kneeling on raw skin. It started as a minor irritant, but now I find myself unable to put pressure on the knee because of the pain. Now I also feel the raw skin sensation by touch and at rest. What could be possible causes and should I discuss with my physician during my next periodic visit? Thank you.

Hello,

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, the question is whether it is INSIDE or outside. Also, one can on exam tell if the knee cartilage and ligaments are still connected or if they are loose.

The physician probably will do quite well on examining those structures. And, joint fluid can collect in the back of the knee in a Baker's cyst.

These can irritate the sciatic nerve and they can also pop and cause a (temporary) bruise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
