What Causes Persistent Itching All Over The Body?

My skin is itching all over at times it starts at my ankles other time I can scratch and welts come up like a cat scratch. I have been told to take an antihistamine however this has been going on for months and I would like to find the cause. I wonder if it is an allergy to food or something else. It is so annoying I find myself scratching at night and sometimes during the day

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent itching all over the body. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons mainly it seems to be due to

- Contact dermatitis can be caused by coming into contact beauty products.
- Animal sting reaction
- Allergic reaction
- Sensitivity to sunlight
- Side effects or certain medicines.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid itching or pricking rashes as it can exaggerate your condition.

- Maintain proper personal hygiene.

- Take zyrtec one a day to suppress infection.

- Apply cold compresses to reduce the itchiness and inflammation.

Consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may order few tests like blood test, skin patch test, test for allergy and physical examination. Doctor may prescribe corticosteroid ointment, antibiotics , anti inflammatory and immunosuppressants .
