What Causes Persistent Itching All Over The Body?

Good afternoon. For the past year I ve been experiencing itchy skin all over my body; it usually starts mid-afternoon and goes through the night until I fall asleep. I m fine in the morning but it ramps up again in the afternoons. Its getting to the point where I feel something is wrong. What should I do?

Itching all over body may be due to a skin infection called scabies/allergic side effect to medicines,food,chemicals.

Have you been recently under any medications?
Suspecting allergic reaction,you have oral tablet cetrizine once a day for 3 days.

If you small reddish papular lesions between your finger digits,armpits,elbow,abdomen or groin area,we can suspect scabies.For that you need to visit dermatologist.Skin scrapping with microscopy is needed to diagnose it.It can be handled by local application of ointment call benzyl benzoate.
Wash your clothes in warm water.Dont share your belongings with others till it is diagnosed.

Besides,you can go for a test called liver function test for serum bilirubin levels.Their rise may cause generalized itching.
