What Causes Persistent Jaw Pain While Chewing Food And Talking?

My jaw constantly hurts, while I talk, chew food, and even during sleep. I believe I have TMD, and many say that it is suppose to go away in a week. However, mine hasn't still gone yet, it has been a month now and it still really hurts more painfully than before.
Please help me of what I am suppose to do?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent jaw pain while chewing food and talking which is mainly due to temporomandibular joint dislocation.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Do not eat hard substances and do not open your jaw too wide.

- Do a luke warm hot and cold fermentation to suppress swelling and pain.

- Start taking anti inflammatory analgesics for the joint dislocation.

- Avoid opening mouth widely and relax jaws in normal position.

- Do mouth stretching exercises.

You should consult dentist once and get it evaluated. Go for radio-graphs like OPG and TMJ views to confirm the diagnosis and start treatment accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
