What Causes Persistent Joint And Back Pain After Being Diagnosed With Tonsillitis?

i was in the emergency room last monday and they diagnosed me with tonsilitis, prescribed antibiotics and motrin. On sunday I was taken back to emergency because i could not move from the severe pain in my back up to my neck so they gave me an IV with fluid and morphin, ran blood test and took xrays, catscan and said everything looked good. Doctor said it was viral and that this will pass but i could barely dress myself. Today is tuesday and the pain in my back and joints have not improved, can there be something else happening to me

Hi,

In fact if your blood work and X-ray were normal then probably it is a viral arthritis and may take down time to heal. Virusus do causes arthritis , and that may be pretty painful , I understand your concern is very right but at the moment we should wait for it.

Till that you can use some OTC pain killer like ibuprofen 2 to 3 times a day. Also heat application would be a lot helpful for the pain. I assume you have done RA factor, uric acid, which are other causes of joint pains but with tonsillitis tests normal this appears to be viral .

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
