What Causes Persistent Left Sided Pain Below Rib Cage?

For a few weeks I have been experiencing mild pain off and on. Started in my rib cage below my left breast. Pain is now in my rib cage on my back still on the left side. It is an ache not a sharp pain. Occurs regardless of sitting, standing or lying down.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns. You have been experiencing left posterior pain. There are numerous things that could be causing your pain. In the general area of your back on the left side is your kidney and you could be having an infection in your kidney. It could also be muscle pain and spasms from your back. or it could be from your colon which also transverses this area.

I would recommend instead of trying to guess what this pain is that you see your doctor so you can be examined properly.
