Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have suffered from leg cramps (Charlie horses) at night for several years now, sometimes they are so painful I have almost passed out. I train horses, do a lot of work around the stable and take care of my elderly mother who had a stroke so I am on my feet and/or using my legs A LOT. More recently I am also having fairly severe foot pain. Its involves pretty much my whole foot: top, bottom, sometimes aching, some times pins and needles. I try to change my shoes a couple times a day but that doesn t seem to help. Now, today, my feet AND my legs ache and feel very weak even though I haven t had leg cramps for a couple days.
* As per the intensity of symptoms, the severe leg cramps can be due to electrolyte disturbances as potassium, magnesium or other fatigue induced via excess work, low hemoglobin, diabetes or other hormonal disturbances or substance abuse as cocaine, tobacco or others ( if using )
* I would suggest a basic work up with your physician for further assistance.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
