What Causes Persistent Leg Swelling Despite Taking Medication For Gout?

I had the gout diagnosed in my left toe and the swelling went all the way up to my left knee. After taking medicine the pain went away and the swelling was gone but at the end of the day, after sitting all day long, the leg is swollen again - two days in a row - but now the right leg feels swollen too. Should I be worried

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent leg swelling despite taking medication for gout . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like kidney failure , cardiomyopathy, deep vein thrombosis , lymphedema , nephrotic syndrome , pain relievers , sitting for a long time and standing for a long time . I would suggest you to consult cardiologist for proper diagnosis . Doctor will check vitals and heart functioning with various tests. Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist for acute kidney failure after checking certinine level . For now keep your legs elevated while lying down and do not stand or sit for long time .
