What Causes Persistent Loose Motions In A Toddler?
Hello doctor my child is 2yrs 3mth old he z having loose motion from a week time as suggested by my pediatrician I have given vizylac syrup darolac z n ors but still he is having loose motion though frequency is low now he z having 6motion compare to earlier when he intake any thing did motions. Kindly suggest
Hi..Can understand your concern.As per your query about having loose motions in a 2 year old child may be due to stomach infection or food poisoning or it can also be due to antibiotics usage for some other infection as a side effect.Vizylac and darolac are probiotic along with Vit.B comlex which is used for normalizing the gut flora.You need to give him antibiotics (if antibiotics are not the cause for loose motions)like ofloxacin -ornidazole syrup for five days twice daily along with darolac and zn syrup by consulting your pediatrician.Give ORS as many times to maintain electrolyte balance and keep him hydrated.Give him easily digestible foods like khichdi,curd rice etc.Avoid giving milk.It will improve slowly.If not getting better then should go for stool culture and sensitivity test .I hope the information helps you.Take care.
