What Causes Persistent Lower Back Pain?

My husband is complaining of low back pain. He has had the feeling since 2 am yesterday morning. He thinks it maybe gas but is having regular bowel movements. The pain is waking up and he can t get comfortable. Should I take him to the emergency or wait it out like he wants to do?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Lower backache is not seen in gastric problems like gas and acidity.
Lower backache is commonly seen with vertebral column and spinal cord problem. Sometimes kidney related diseases can also cause similar lower back pain.
So better to consult doctor and get done
1. X ray of LS spine (lumbosacral spine) to rule out spine related diseases.
2. MRI if required.
3. Ultrasound examination of abdomen to rule out kidney diseases.
So don't wait at home. Consult doctor, diagnose him and start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
