What Causes Persistent Lymph Node Swelling Despite Taking A Steroid Shot?
Hi had an allergic reaction to something, I had hives all over my body and in my scalp and swollen lymph nodes. I got a steroid shot and I m taking a steroid the hives on my body are pretty much gone but not so much on my scalp and lymph nodes are still swollen. Its been almost a week. Is this normal?
hi. There are many reasons for a lymph node enlargement. The most common would be an infection. If it is due to infection you will also have some other associated symptoms like fever, sore throat, cough, etc. So with proper antibiotic treatment the lymph node should subside in a week to 10 days. But if it is not subsidihg even after treatment; then you should go for an FNAC( fine needle aspiration cytology) . This procedure takes about 2 minutes and you can get your report within 24 hours. The diagnosis may not be a definite one but it will tell you whether the condition is benign or malignant. And then later if your clinician advise you for further investigation you can go for biopsy.
