What Causes Persistent Mid Back Pain Despite Taking Methylprednisolone?

Last Tuesday night my back started hurting on the left side middle back . I don t think it was from any specific event. I have been in a lot of pain and saw an orthopedic doctor on Thursday morning who prescribed METHYLPREDNISOLONE 4 MG DOSEPK along with Advil morning and night. I have been taking the steroid since 12:00 noon last Thursday. When I took 6 steroids on the first day I had a lot of relief but now I am down to taking 1 tab 3X/day. I am in a lot of pain which comes and goes. I m not sure what is wrong with my back since I had taken METHYLPREDNISOLONE 4 MG DOSEPK a year ago for an unrelated back injury and it worked very well.

Hello,

You may need to do an x-ray or better an MRI of the back in order to check for pathologies that can cause the pain.

If the oral corticosteroids don't work anymore you can use corticosteroid injections around the spine.

Continue taking anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil or naproxen. You can also start physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
