What Causes Persistent Moderate Fever In A Child?

We have an 11 yr old boy, he has had a fever ranging from 100 to 104.5 since yesterday, almost 24 hrs. It will not break and it goes down and then back up. Have been giving him fluids and alternating between tylenol and ibuprofen. Fever has not broke at all.

Hi...
Welcome to HCM..
Continuous high grade fever need to investigated. It could be of viral or bacterial origin. You have not mentioned other symptoms associated with fever like bodyache, cough, pain abdomen, burning urination etc. I suggest you to consult doctor for proper diagnosis. Till then you can give him paracetamol and tapid sponging to reduce body temperature.
Thank you
