What Causes Persistent Odor Of Ammonia In Urine With History Of Kidney Failure?
I have stable kidney disease. We are not sure why but, my right kidney is no longer working. My left kidney is fine. Lately, I have noticed a strong smell of ammonia at the end of the day. Even my underwear smell like ammonia. What does this mean?

Urine may smell like ammonia when it becomes concentrated with waste products. A variety of conditions can cause waste products to build up in urine, such as bladder stones, dehydration, and urinary tract infections. In most cases, urine that smells like ammonia can be treated with fluids or antibiotic medications. You should do a urine test for further evaluation.
