What Causes Persistent Pain Above The Waist Line Radiating To The Back?
Hi. I have been having pains in my left side. They have been off and on for over two years. Initially, ultrasounds and a cat scan showed nothing remarkable. For the past few weeks the pain has centered around my waist line and above on my side, and sometime toward the back. My doctors are differing in their opinions as to which tests I should have repeated. I don t know what to do. It is all very expensive and not fun. I have also had a sore throat for over two weeks, with some coughing. I ve never had a sore throat this long, but it appears to get better at times. I m confused and not comfortable.
The pain in the waist radiating to the back or legs is commonly indicative of sciatica. Though it can be caused by other medical conditions like slipped disc, muscle strain, trauma, injury, ligament or tendon tear, etc. You can take acetaminophen or NSAIDS, one SOS when needed. Physical therapy is effective.
However, get clinically examined by an orthopedics, get blood workouts and imaging tests done and get treated. Take antihistamines to ease your throat. Gargle with warm saline water 3 - 4 times a day. You can take syrup Grillinctus BM for relieve. It should get well, if not get sputum and swab tests done.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
