What Causes Persistent Pain And Drainage From Ears?

Hello Dr. My question is for my 19 year old daughter. She tends to pick at her ear, especially when she feels stressed. Wax build up as already been removed by ear specialist, however, her ear stills hurts her, continuously , says there is fluid coming out of it. She was told to place a piece of cotton in her ears every time she bathes. Ear continues hurting her. What do you recommend that I can do for her. I need something that I can do today. I understand that she will have to go see a doctor as soon as possible. My daughter is away at school. I thank you in advance.

Hi..Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

IT SEEMS THAT YOUR DAUGHTER HAVE PERFORATION IN HER EAR DRUM. THIS MIGHT HAVE RESULTED DUE TO CONTINUOUSLY PRICKING INSIDE EAR.THIS MIGHT HAVE ALSO RESULTED IN INFECTION OF MIDDLE EAR TOO.
MOST EAR DRUM PERFORATION HEALS WITH TIME ON ITS OWN & NO SURGICAL TREATMENT IS REQUIRED
SHE NEED TO GO TO AN ENT SPECIALIST. HE WILL DO PROPER CLINICAL EXAMINATION & THEN TREATMENT WOULD BE DONE.

Hoping your query is solved
