What Causes Persistent Pain And Tickling Sensation In Throat?

Hi i have had a cold for the past three days and today, my thoat has been acting up. My throat all of a sudden gets a tickle in the back and then I have an uncontrollable cough. It gets so bad that sometimes my ribs begin to get sore and have a sharp pain from coughing for so long and so hard. I also sometimes throw up just from this cough that won t stop. It s quite scary to be honest. I have no idea what is causing this or if it is normal.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent pain and tickling sensation in throat is because of upper respiratory tract infection such as lung Infection and bronchitis. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles. Take throat lozanges. Maintain basic hygiene of oral cavity. You should take pseudoepharine containing medicines for congestion but should be taken only after consultation with your doctor. You should visit pulmonogist once and get it examined clinically. Go for chest X-ray to rule out condition clinically. You have to get pulmonary functions tests checked. You should take combination of antibiotics, inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take steam inhalation as well. Sip on warm water on frequent basis.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understood your problem.
You are having cold associated dry cough which is quite irritating.
Try taking cosome syrup or syrup containing dextromethorphan which will help relieve the itchy cough that you have.
Also losenges for cough will give some relief.
Steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus extract will also help.
Tab levocetrezine 10mg while sleeping will reduce the cold faster.
I hope i have answered your query well. If you have any more query kindly write back to me.
Thank you
