What Causes Persistent Pain At The Base Of Head Along With Pain In Ear?

I am experiencing pain at the base of my head on the left side like on the little knot thingy as well as an ear ache like an ice pick sticking in it. I also have a very sore spot on the back of my head like I ve be hit in the back of the head on the left side. I am experiencing pain on the left side of the jaw bone that shoot up beside the front of the ear. ENT Dr. said today no infection in ear, throat looked good, sinuses seemed clear...but base of skull still hurts.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to occipital neuralgia. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. If the symptoms continue, you should see a neurologist.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
