What Causes Persistent Pain Behind The Right Knee?

For the last 2 days, the area behind my right knee and only on the right side of the leg has been painful.. I can t bend over to pick something up unless I place my weight on my left leg which is fine. The day before this occurred, I walked in NYC for over 4 miles on sidewalks. any hint as to what this is? thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

We have to rule out possible causes like ligament or tendon injury. As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
