Hi,

Persistent abdominal pain may occur due to constipation which is quite normal. Again, abdominal pain with constipation may result from some underlying causes such as inflammatory bowel disease, crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, DM, hypothyroidism, diverticulitis, spinal cord injuries, bowel obstruction, multiple sclerosis, brain injuries, colon cancer, carcinoma of rectum, stroke etc. Taking high fibre foods, drinking of plenty of fluids, exercising regularly etc with visceralgin and lactose syrup may help to reduce persistent abdominal pain with constipation. An abdominal ultrasound may help to the find out the underlying causes
which are responsible for persistent abdominal pain with constipation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician,
