What Causes Persistent Pain In Abdomen And Fatigue After An Injury?

I was having abdominal pains for 2 mos. up until last week when I got in a car wreck..a pretty bad one. My pains were from just under the rib cage to kind of all over the abdomen. I saw a doctor who prescribed a laxative which I didn t take. Pains then slowly became less frequent. The crash deployed my airbag very forcefully. All I know is my chest hurt. I didn t consider that it impacted my abdomen as well. A few days later I had a couple episodes of fatigue during the day. I felt very weak. Then last night I ate a big hamburger. Within minutes I had a lot of stomach pain. Just under the rib cage. It lasted about 5 minutes. When I got up today I did not feel well. Borderline nausea and tired. My whole gut was kind of achy. 12 hours later.. still don t feel well. Feel cold..no fever. Did I have an acute pancreatic event? I have a appointment to see my primary tomorrow.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

I will be glad to answer your question.

Did you get an ultrasound abdomen or CT abdomen done after the event?
If not get it done once.

This can clear your doubts about any minor injury that has happened to the gut.

If your bowel movements are normal from the day of the crash, don't worry about the gut injury due to crash. It should be normal.

Take soft diet with high fibre for few days

Hope that helps!

Best Regards
Dr Chaithanya
