What Causes Persistent Pain In Chest Despite Having Antibiotics For Bronchitis?

This is a question regarding chest pain... Today is: January 23rd, 2015 Wed, Dec 31 - Went into ER with chest pain and trouble breathing. Dr listened to my lungs and found rails in my lower lungs. He tried a nebulizer treatment but sadly it didn t make the breathing any easier. He diagnosed me with Bronchitis and put me on antibiotics for 5 days. Mon, Jan 5th - Took last dose of antibiotics Sunday night. I noticed I felt a bit better but the infection wasn t gone. I still had crackling in my lower lungs. I figured it was normal and would continue to go away. I went to Walmart that night for about 30 min, I wasn t walking fast or moving heavy things or anything but by the time I got to the register I was super weak, dizzy, exhausted, out of breath, hyperventilating, and I felt like I was going to pass out. Tues, Jan 6th - Made an appointment to meet with my primary. She listened to my lungs, found the rails, asked how I was feeling and diagnosed me with Pneumonia. She put me on the strongest antibiotics available for 5 days and said that should take care of the infection and sent me home. Sat, Jan 10th - I notice the crackling in my lungs is gone, but still I am out of breath, super tired. I get super tired and out of breath when talking a lot or if I am up moving around doing daily activities anywhere from 5 - 30 min. After that I am super weak, out of breath, tired, and I need to sit down. Rest helps a lot. I called a nurse who said I should have noticed a difference by then and suggested that I go back to the ER. I went back to ER. I walked from my car, walked like a 1/4 of a block inside and was visibly short of breath like I had run a mile. I weak and tired. The ER Dr ordered an X-ray, blood work: blood gas, D-Dimer, and a few others, and an EKG: all came back clean and normal. Every time they tested my vitals my blood oxygen. blood pressure, all came back normal. The ER Dr was stumped and sent me home with orders to call the Hospital on Monday to schedule an Echocardiogram to test for fluid around the heart and a Pulmonary Function Test. Wed, Jan 14th - Was able to schedule both the Echocardiogram and the Pulmonary Function test for this day. The Pulmonary Function test came back first. The best way I can describe that is pure torture. I was dizzy and lightheaded the whole time. At one point in the test I had to get up and use the restroom a sort distance away. I was weak. My legs and knees felt like jello, I was again breathing hard like I had run a mile, and I was tingling on my upper chest, neck, and lower face from the eyes down. I was wobbly. I was worried on the way back that I would fall so I hung onto the wall as I walked. The test continued. The specialist gave me a nebulizer treatment, but it didn t help, if anything I felt more dizzy. She said if I was feeling this bad that I should go back to the ER. I told her I wanted to finish the test. When we finished I was super super weak and lightheaded, tingling in my face, neck and chest, I was breathing hard and felt completely out of it. I followed to wall, tracing my fingers as I went for stability and sat down for about 30 min until the Echocardiogram lady called me in. Both departments ran their tests and forwarded their information to doctors to be read. Fri, Jan 16th - I went in to see my Primary for the results of the tests. The only one that was in was for the Pulmonary Function test which she said came back normal. She contacted a Pulmonologist. They wanted me to walk to watch my vitals to see if my oxygen levels went down when my heart rate went up. It didn t, my heart rate went up but my oxygen levels stayed the same. My Primary ordered an X-ray. It again came back normal. Because of my continuing same symptoms she sent me to get a CT Scan done to check to see if there may be a Pulmonary Embolism hiding. When I went in for the CT Scan everything went as planned though I was still out of breath. After the test was over I was super super weak, my legs and knees felt like jello, I was having a hard time walking following the wall as best I could. I made it 10 feet from the CT room and had to sit down. I got up a few minutes later, walked another 10 feet and caught the eye of a nurse who said it would make her feel better if she could walk me to a chair. The more I sat there the worse it got so I went back to the X-ray department and they took me to the ER. My vitals were still all normal though I was super out of it and sleepy and my breathing was still heavy. We waited for the results of the CT. It came back normal. I went home and put in a call to my Primary asking her basically What s next? She called me back and wanted me to try taking an anti-anxiety med 2-3 times for the weekend and call her Monday morning to check in. Mon, Jan 19th - I spent the weekend super out of it and sleeping a lot. When I was up moving around everything was in slow mo, but it did seem to help suppress/relax my breathing issues a bit, but not completely. I told her this and she consulted with a Pulmonologist. An appointment was set up for me to see him. Fri , Jan 23rd - Went in and saw the Pulmonologist. We went through the entire time line I just explained. He asked me many questions about anxiety and depression (I have been on depression meds for 2 yrs and my anxiety is minimal but I can manage it. This DOES NOT feel like anxiety at all.) None of the meds I am on and have been taking for a couple years have changed. He listened to my lungs and basically said that everything was coming up fine which was good. I don t seem to have any major illnesses, obstructions, or diseases. He mentioned during the test that it might be a mental issue. I told him that I feel like I am hyperventilating because of the tingling and that my stats keep coming back normal. I said that I am frustrated that we cant seem to find a physical trigger for my breathing issues. He said that he could order a Cardio Endurance test to test my breathing while I am on a stationary bike and he could also run an asthma test. I am confident that it isn t asthma so we scheduled a Cardio Endurance test for Feb 2nd. NOTE:: Nothing has changed in my life. I am not pregnant, no new places, no changes in anything I am doing or environments I am in. I am so frustrated! Over the last few days I have noticed more chest pressure and tightness and some mild pain. The whole time I have been going through this my voice seems to be in and out. All my tests keep coming back normal. I have no seasonal or environmental allergies and I don t have asthma. Can you help me? Please?
