What Causes Persistent Pain In Chest Radiating Towards Armpit?

I am trying to weigh whether or not i should consider a low level CT scan. I have had chest and back pain for the past several months. The occurrences have not changed, but it seems that the pain is also now spreading to my arm joints near the armpit? I am most worried that I have been a smoker for the past 10 years and have only quit last month.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have chest pain along with back pain that radiates towards armpits . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergy , common ccold heart burn , pulled muscles , shingles , brachial Plexus Injury and cardiac problem like angina . I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examinatio . Doctor will examine physically by palpating area , order ECG , CT scan , X-ray and complete blood profile to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti viral drugs ( acyclovir ) , anti bacterial along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologits for proper diagnosis if the problem is related to heart . For now take proper rest , do not exert your body and apply hot compresses on armpits .
