Hi I have been having flank pain. The doctor thinks it might be kidney stones. I had an X-ray done & nothing showed up. I'm waiting for my insurance to approve my ct scan but now along with the flank pain I feel painful popping on & off in the same area I am having pain. What could be causing that?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent pain in flank . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like infection in the spine , disk disease , pinched nerve in the back , muscle spasm , kidney infection , kidney stone , pancreatitis and Crohn’s disease . The pain can also occur sometimes due to heart condition which is rare chance . I would suggest you to consult your doctor again . Doctor may order CT scan , ultrasound and physical examination . Doctor may also order kidney function test . Doctor may refer you to orthopedic surgeon or gastroenterologist if problem will be related with spin or gastric problem . For now eat light and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
