Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I over stretched my ankle and foot trying to hang a heavy picture on picture rail bending over a chest of drawer. The pain is in the heel area making painful to walk. It is slightly easier to walk with wearing trainers then hard leather shoes. Pain is lesser in right foot. The incident happen some 5 weeks ago and there has not been any change during this period. I am 77 years old and physically very active. I have used Ibuprofane a few times without much effect. My GP checked and confirmed that I had no broken bones in that area. Can you help?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent pain in heels . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinitis . But there can be other reasons also like heel spur , gout , osteomyelitis , rheumatoid arthritis and wrong foot placement . Gentle massage with flax seed oil will help a lot. I would suggest you to consult a Podiatrist or an Orthopedician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI Scan, blood test etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. Doctor may also ask you to walk to check your walking and treat you according to diagnosis outcome . For now you can put you foot in hot water tub for 15 minutes with epsom salt daily . Orthotics and Night splints can also be advised.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
