What Causes Persistent Pain In Jaw And Tonsil Post Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

Four days ago I had my lower left wisdom tooth extracted, and I am still in much pain. My left tonsil is sore and lower left jaw to ear is still very painful. Is this normal? I feel as though I should have some type of reduction in pain by now and I do not.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms pain in jaw, radiating to ear and soreness in tonsil on the same side where wisdom tooth extraction was done is not an uncommon finding and it is due to post extraction inflammation ..

Nothing to worry and in case if you are not taking any pain medication you should take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice daily for relief from pain..
Do warm saline gargles..
Cold compresses over the cheek will further relieve..
In case if still you experience pain after a week time then consult your dentist and get evaluated for unhealed socket known as DRY SOCKET..
As of now the pain is due to inflammation which is common after any surgical procedure and you need not worry about it..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
