What Causes Persistent Pain In Lower Back Radiating Towards Hip?
Terrible back pain with spasms. Been in bed 4 days with prescription flexeril and anti-inflammatory meds. Pain migrated from lower right back about hip bone to my tailbone. Now I have groin pain as well. I don t know what to do or whether to go to an ER.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent pain in lower back radiating towards hip . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like urinary track infection , appendicitis , nerve compression , disc problem , sciatica or kidney infection . I would suggest you to consult an Orthopedic Surgeon and get evaluated and he can advise you investigations like x ray or MRI scan to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treatment can be planned accordingly. He or she can advise you to take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, muscle relaxants, multivitamins, stretching exercises, warm compresses. For now you can take painkillers like Motrin or Tramadol to relieve pain , avoid long duration of standing and strenuous work and avoid lifting heavy loads. Doctor may also refer you to urologist , who may order ultrasound or urine test along with kidney function test .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
